A new study has suggested that short men stay married for a longer period of time whereas tall men tend to marry more quickly. According to the authors, the study further confirmed an existence of height-based status exchange in which short men compensated for their lower physical status with higher proportional earnings, Discovery News reported.
Authors felt that while tall men appeared more likely to use their status to attract women with higher relative earnings. Short men also tend to be better educated than their partners, suggesting that they were compensating for their stature in other areas.
Another study claims that short men have more sex! According to an interesting finding, those who are about 5 feet 9 inches and under enjoy sex better and in plenty. ‘When comparing men’s sexual activity levels based on characteristics such as age, height, weight and health, the younger, fitter men tended to get more play,’ researchers said. However, we were surprised to see that ‘coital frequency was higher among men with a height of less than 5 ft 9 in’, they noted.
Not just this, according to another study, short men even live longer than their taller counterparts. According to data culled from researchers out of the University of Hawaii, the taller the men, the shorter they lived. The reason? Shorter men — defined as 5-foot-2 (157cm) and smaller — were more likely to possess a protective form of the longevity gene FOXO3, which leads to smaller body size and a longer lifespan, researchers explained. Shorter men were also more likely to have lower blood insulin levels and lower rates of cancer.
